Courtyard meeting: At the courtyard meeting held on the date 28 March 2023 in Sanura union under Dhamrai Upazila, Mr. Mojaffar Mia said that he married his only son eight years ago. In the first time, his son's wife treated him well, now his son and son's wife misbehave with him and torture him mentally and threaten him with food and throw him out of the house. The members and dignitaries of the local people made special efforts to prevent this incident from happening again but after a while they again abused and ill-treated him. After today's courtyard meeting I learned about the legal aid issue and how I can get a solution to my problem through the legal aid office.
UPLAC Orientation: At the UPLAC orientation held on the date 28 March 2023 Hazratpur union under Keraniganj Upazila, The Union Legal Aid Committee arranged an orientation for LAC members. Mr Zaher Ali, Secretary of the Hazrat Union and also he was member Secretary of the Legal Aid Committee and he has chaired the orientation programme. Field officer of the keraniganj Upazila started the meeting, greeting everyone present. He concluded the presentation with a hard copy on the issue of the Legal Aid Act-2000 and gender related issues with the approval of the UPLAC, in the order of permission of him and explained all aspects of it beautifully. Later, all of them talked about the matter openly.
The following quote: Mr. Riaz Uddin, ward member said Gender-Based Violence against women, Violence Extremism, and traffic in person so people are constantly filling these problems in the Keraniganj area. The victims came to the Union Parishad facing many problems when selling and buying land. Today we learned about legal aid Act-2000, through this orientation training, now we can take care of this matter through the Legal Aid Office Dhaka. Thanks to funding by USAID and their partner’s organization Democracy International and Aparajeyo-Bangladesh organizing the Orientation.
UPLAC Bi-monthly meeting: At the UPLAC Bi-monthly meeting held on the date 29 March 2023 Mr. Al hajj Altaf Hossain Molla Chairmen, Nannar Union Parishad, Dhamrai Upazila said Various NGOs implement their activities in my Union Parishad area and their activities end when their project based projects are completed, this is the reality. We will be the members of this committee and the poor people of this union will be in this union parishad. Our responsibility is to provide legal services to all the poor people who come to the union parishad. If they do not like the settlement of the Union Parishad, if they want justice through the court, we will send them to the Dhaka District Legal Aid Office.
