Courtyard meeting: At the courtyard meeting held on the date 25 February 2023 Bandura union (02 no ward) under Nawabganj Upazila, Ms. Sumona said my husband left me and married another and I left my father's house with my child. I wanted to file a case but could not file a case due to lack of money. People of the village don't need to file a case with the police, we will sit and settle now. They also demand 50 thousand taka from me. Now I said from where I will get 50 thousand taka and I was worried how to solve this matter. I came to this meeting today to learn about legal aid issues and will try to get this service through the district legal aid office Dhaka.
UPLAC Bi-monthly Meeting: At the UPLAC Bi-monthly meeting held on the date 23 February 2023 Mr. Mohammed Sakur Hossain, Chairmen, Zinjira Union Parishad, Keraniganj said, the government has taken good initiatives for poor and disadvantaged people support of legal aid. Our union is densely populated and has extensive industries and many people in our union parishad area do not know about legal aid. The legal aid awareness needs to increase. We have try to solve their problem if not we send them district legal aid office Dhaka for better support”.
UZLAC Bi-monthly Meeting: The UZLAC monthly meeting was held on the date 27 February 2023 Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mr. Md. Mazharul Islam said that I am informing the union chairmen that the awareness of legal aid should be increased at the grass root level in every union area of Savar Upazila. However, I have to inform about the amount of legal aid seekers from the Upazila and Union Parishad going to the District legal Aid office then the women and children affairs officer said that this month we send three people from the upazila parishad to the district legal aid office to get legal help. The Upazila Nirbahi officer said that the client's amount should be increased, and the awareness of legal aid should be increased more.
UPLAC Orientation: At the courtyard meeting held on the date 28 February 2023 Bhararia union under Dhamrai Upazila, The Union Legal Aid Committee arranged an orientation for LAC members. Mr. Muslim Uddin Masum, New Chairman of the Bhararia Union and also he was president of the Legal Aid Committee and he has chaired the orientation programme. Field officer of the Dhamrai Upazila started the meeting, greeting everyone present. He concluded the presentation on the issue of the Legal Aid Act-2000 with the approval of the UPLAC President. Mr. Muslim Uddin Masum, Chairman said we must raise a hand against all kinds of violence. Thousands of women from our country are trafficked abroad every year by luring them with jobs. As the chairman of the Union Parishad, it is my responsibility to identify all the brokers in my union parished area and hand them over to the law with our committee member’s help. We need to support the women victims of trafficking, if any women are facing this problem, we will arrange legal services through the District Legal Aid Office quickly through this Union Parishad.
