Weekly activities for the duration of 09 September to 15 Septembeer 2022

Courtyard meeting: At the courtyard meeting held on the date 11.09.2022 Ms. Rabea Begum Rahmatganj, Zinjira Union under Keraniganj Upazila said I came to this meeting of the yard meeting and learned a lot about government legal aid. Today I am aware of this issue and many villagers inform me about this Legal Aid issue.”

Bi-monthly meeting: The UPLAC monthly meeting at held on the date 10.09.2022 Mr. Md. Magibur Rahman, Chairmen of Balia union under Dhamrai Upazila and President Union Legal Aid Committee said that today I learned about the Legal Aid support issue so Information is power, we will continue our monthly meeting, the more awareness campaign meetings will doing others union, school and colleges and you can also aware Bazar samity committee about this issue and distribution awareness materials and the helpline 16430 number.

Public Hearing: Joining in the Public Hearing event on the date 13.09.2022, shakta Union under Keraniganj Upazila, Dhaka, Ms. Sabana Begum asked the learned District Legal Aid Panel Lawyer Mr. Md. Advocate Magibur Islam of Dhaka, we are four sisters my father died last 5 years he has 8 decemel land but we can't occupy that land, we have valid land papers but the uncle of our neighboring relation “How can we get help from District Legal Aid Office? In response to his question, member secretary Mr. Abdul Gani said first you bring your documents to the Union Parishad, we can call both parties and negotiate, otherwise we will send them to the District Legal Aid Office. In response to the question representative of District Legal Aid Office, Advocate Magibur Islam said that it is better if it is resolved in the Union Parishad, if not, then come to the District Legal Aid Office with all your valid documents, BS and RS paper, land registration, land deed and everything.

In the public hearing session, the issues that the justice seekers discussed with the district legal aid Panel Lawyer to participate the public hearing session and there were related to Land Dispute, Dowry, ADR Date Changes, a cheating case, and Separation/Divorce in the hearing session (see the table below).

Panel Lawyer Meeting: Content for discussion

1. There is a need to increase the cost in the case of issuing degrees.


2. Whether an absconding defendant can be represented in court?


3. Ashulia GRO branch is facing many problems and delay in getting bills.


4. From where we will bill in case of case but not billed.


5. In case of family cases, the number of summons should be increased.

Decisions are made through District Legal Aid Officer as a PL Meeting

1. In the last meeting we discussed and decided to increase the issuing degree bill. In that case I told the district judge sir about this issue then we will take the decision through the meeting.


2. However, caution must be exercised in cases where an absconding accused cannot be made a court representative.


3. In the next court staff coordination meeting I will ask the court inspector of Ashulia GRO branch not to create any problem in providing the legal aid panel and their documents.


4. You have to bill and collect the bill from the GRO branch of the tribunal in which the case is filed.


5. We will raise this matter in the next meeting and draw the attention of the District Judge Sir who goes to the plaintiff in front and accepts money from the summons papers.
