Courtyard meeting: Date 18.11.2021, Ms. Gita rani Suvadha Union under Keraniganj Upazila said that I came to courtyard meeting today and learned a lot about legal aid. My daughter is 25 years old. I married my daughter to a boy in Bhakurta union of Savar upazila. I paid tk 50,000 in cash and a lot of furniture during the wedding. Now my daughter's husband and her mother are torturing my daughter physically and mentally for dowry. I brought my daughter to my home and now I am seeking legal help through legal aid.
UPLAC bi-monthly meeting: Date 17.11.2021 Mr.Sham Sundor Mondol Union Secretary Sanora Union Parishad said that Elections for all the Union Parishads of Dhamrai Upazila were held on 11th November. Our Union Parishad Chairman mr. Md. Khaled Masud Khan Bhai has become the Chairman for the second time so that we can better carry out the legal aid activities. However, many ward members could not be re-elected, so we will be able to reconvene the Union Legal Aid Committee and hold a bi-monthly meeting.
UZLAC Meeting: date 15.11.2021 Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mr. Md. Mazharul Islam said If any client or victims are sent to the District Legal Aid Office for legal assistance from the Upazila level, the member of the Upazila Legal Aid Committee must be informed. Fill in the prescribed form of the District Legal Aid Office and take a form to the District Legal Aid Office and make a photocopy of that form and keep it in the file of the Upazila Committee. He again said that the Upazila Manager will follow up on whether the victim is getting legal assistance from the District Legal Aid Office and will report on how many clients were given legal aid at the every UZLAC bi-monthly meeting.
Quarterly Client meeting: date 14.11.2021 Ms. Monowara Begum from village Ambagicha Aganagar Keraniganj Dhaka said for 8 months my husband did not keep research of me. I have two daughters and they don't know anything. My husband wants dowry and sometimes beats me physically and mentally for dowry. I am currently at my father's house and now I want your cooperation on how I can get my rights back. District Acting Legal Aid Officer Mr. Md. Zahirul Alam Sir said what do you want to do now? you don't want to have a family with your husband. Then Monowara Begum said I want your cooperation in case I want to start a family with my husband. Then told the District Legal Aid Office and asked Office Assistant Hannan to give her husband a notice and date for ADR. In the Quarterly Client meeting session, the issues were related to, Dowry, ADR Date Changes, Separation, Divorce, Violence against women, cheating case and Land dispute at the Client meeting in the district legal aid office Dhaka.
Quarterly meeting with court staff: date 15.11.2021 Md. Salim Hossain, Court staff 5th family court said legal aid panel lawyers are very sincere about their legal aid cases and have good communication with the plaintiffs. But some Legal Aid panel lawyers do not have good communication with the court officer. They are coming to us with a proper document and we are given them a certified copy. The discussion topic was cases to continue according to legal aid act-2000 and other related Acts, attendance of the quarterly Court staff meeting and providing a lawyer case related document properly.
Quarterly meeting with Panel Lawyer: Time 12:00 pm to 3:00 and date 18.11.2021 The panel lawyer meeting started by the senior assistant judge, 5th family court and acting legal aid officer (DLAO) Dhaka Mr. Md. Jahurul Alom said that Legal aid cases are coming to my court with proper evidence and I will give them bail immediately. They are very happy after receiving legal assistance. To inform the client or plaintiff of the previous cases dates. They hope from your good behavior for legal aid case purposes. In the Quarterly meeting with the Panel Lawyer, the issues were related to, monthly report submitted and the quarterly report in the district legal aid office Dhaka.
Quarterly meeting with Judge and Magistrate: Time 3:00 to 4:55 and date 18.11.2021 the senior assistant judge, Kanis Tania Rupa said that there needs to be a panel Lawyer assessment of the District Legal Aid Office. Because there needs to be a database on how many lawsuits a lawyer is making, which cases are more and which cases are less. The Legal Aid Office's lawyer will be rewarded for the highest number of cases which will be acquittal. I think National Legal Aid day-2022, needs to reward District Legal Aid lawyers who will handle most cases.
